The later 1995-1997 and 1998-2000 blocks were made from a different material, weren't as strong, and could only hold a .030 overbore safely.

#2 · Dec 2, 2011 Yep. Up-side is a great boost in torque. Downside is the weakness of the factory heads. They won't take higher boost on pump gas with heavy ignition retard for long. Your idea of 6-8 psig is a good target. I would strongly suggest the iron aftermarket replacement heads of you're going to lean on it often or more.

Jan 1, 2022 #1 I came across this weird little electric 3 inch "turbo" that says it builds 3 pounds of boost, which doesn't sound too bad, and doesn't look like it would be hard to integrate into my current cold air intake system, I don't know much about forced induction but would this even be a project worth doing?

The supercharger is currently unbelted. The 4.0 has headers and an MSD DIS-4 ignition but that's all i can tell you for certain. I suspect it may have a slighty warmer cam than stock also. Running as is it will break the new 35" BFG M/T's loose on take off. 65mph at 2400rpm so it not geared all that short either.
